Azerbaijan increases export of sugar and confectionery

Azerbaijan increased export of sugar and confectionery products by 30.47 percent or $6.7 million from January through November 2021 compared to the same period of last year, Trend reports on Dec. 30 with reference to the statistics bulletin of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.

The export of these products reached $28.6 million while its share in the total export of the country decreased from 0.17 percent to 0.14 percent.

The import of sugar and confectionery products increased for the year. This figure increased by 30.96 percent and reached $173.2 million.

The share of these products in Azerbaijan's total import volume reached 1.66 percent, having increased by 0.29 percentage points on an annual basis.

In general, the volume of export and import operations on sugar and confectionery products reached $201.8 million from January through November 2021, which is by 30.9 percent or $47.6 million more than in the same period of 2020.

Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover as a whole increased by 32.85 percent or $7.5 billion from January through November 2021 compared to the same period of last year - from $22.7 billion to $30.2 billion.

The export volume reached $19.8 billion in the structure of Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover in the reporting period while import volume - $10.4 billion, having increased in annual terms by 51.6 percent and 7.47 percent, respectively.

As a result, while remaining positive, the foreign trade balance increased on an annualized basis by 178 percent or $6.01 billion - to $9.4 billion from January through November 2021 compared to $3.4 billion from January through November 2020.
