Azerbaijan Insurers Association talks about current insurance sectors in 2022

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 15

By Nazrin Israfilova - Trend:

Taking into account the current conditions, the details of the local market, and the general approaches of insurance companies, the Azerbaijan Insurers Association has determined the types and sectors of insurance that will be topical in 2022, Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Insurers Association Elmar Mirsalayev told Trend.

Mirsalayev added that four sectors of insurance will be most topical in Azerbaijan in 2022.

“First of all, it is compulsory insurance of real estate,” the executive director stressed. “A number of factors, including global climate change and unstable weather conditions, as well as the carelessness of people, make real estate risks inevitable.”

“Taking all this into account, it is possible to say that compulsory real estate insurance will be one of the topical sectors in 2022,” Mirsalayev said.

The executive director also named disability insurance among the topical sectors this year.

“This is based on such factors as the increase in the number of jobs, the successful process of taking measures to combat informal employment,” Mirsalayev added. “One of the types of insurance that will be topical in 2022 is compulsory disability insurance due to the accidents at work and occupational diseases.”

Mirsalayev added that it is necessary to focus on Casco insurance [covering expenses that arise due to an involuntary crash or collision in any motor vehicle].

“It is necessary to take into account the increase in the number of cars imported into the country and the fact that a car is always at risk,” the executive director said. “I think that these are sufficient reasons to renew the Casco.”

Mirsalayev also named voluntary medical insurance among the relevant sectors.

“It is necessary to remember that COVID-19 pandemic still continues and unfortunately, new COVID-19 variants appear,” Mirsalayev said. “Therefore, there is reason to say that voluntary health insurance will be one of the most typical types of insurance in 2022.”
