BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 29. Azerbaijan increased imports of flour confectionery products by 16.76 percent or $2.8 million from January through February 2022 compared to the same period in 2021, Trend reports via the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan.

The cost of importing these products amounted to $20.1 million in the reporting period, the statistical bulletin of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan said.

According to the SCC, Azerbaijan almost doubled the export of flour confectionery ($575,140) from January through February 2022 compared to the same period in 2021. The share of these products in the total export of Azerbaijan amounted to 0.01 percent.

According to the results for two months of 2022, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover in flour confectionery products amounted to almost $20.7 million, which is 15 percent or $3.1 million more than the same period in 2021.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover generally increased by 44.58 percent, or $3.5 billion from January through February 2022 compared to the same period last year - from $4.4 billion to $7.9 billion.

In the structure of foreign trade turnover, exports accounted for $5.9 billion from January through February 2022, which is $3.1 billion, or almost 2.15 times more than from January through February 2021.

Azerbaijan's imports increased by $361 million from January through February 2022, or by 18.2 percent, from $1.6 billion to $1.9 billion.

The balance of foreign trade turnover in the reporting period, which remained positive, increased year-on-year by more than $2.8 billion, or almost 3.4 times, to more than $3.9 billion against $1.1 billion from January through February 2021.
