Turkish port of Mersin shares volume of cargo transportation for 2M2023

BAKU, Azerbaijan. March 18. The volume of cargo transported via the Turkish port of Mersin amounted to 5.9 million tons from January through February 2023, Trend reports via the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, some 324,184 tons of the cargo were transported by ships under the flag of Türkiye through the port of Mersin, and 5.6 million tons by ships under the flags of other countries.

The port of Mersin handled over 105,974 tons of transit cargo from January through February 2023, the ministry added.

Overall, Turkish ports handled 27.5 million tons of cargo in February 2023.

During this period, ships flying the Turkish flag handled 2.2 million tons of cargo via the local ports, while those flying the flags of other countries - 25.3 million tons.

A total of 5.6 million tons of transit cargo were transshipped via Turkish ports in February 2023.

Furthermore, the Turkish ports handled 59.6 million tons of cargo from January through February 2023.

During the mentioned period, the vessels flying Turkish flags transported 4.1 million tons of cargo, whereas the ships flying the flags of other countries handled 55.4 million tons of cargo through the Turkish ports.

A total of 12.1 million tons of transit cargo were shipped through the Turkish ports from January through February 2023.
