BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 14. The Turkish port of Aliaga (the Izmir city) handled 39.2 million tons of cargo from January through July 2023, Trend reports.
According to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye, a total of 1.5 million tons of cargo were handled by Turkish–flagged vessels through the port of Aliaga, while 37.7 million tons - by vessels under the flags of other countries.
"The Turkish port of Aliaga handled 355,056 tons of transit cargo from January through July 2023," the ministry said.
The ports of Türkiye handled 32.5 million tons of cargo in July 2023.
During the specified period, cargo transportation by Turkish-flagged vessels through domestic ports amounted to 2.4 million tons.
Cargo transportation through the Turkish ports by vessels under the flags of other countries amounted to 30 million tons. In addition, Turkish ports handled 6.1 million tons of transit cargo in July 2023.
From January through July 2023, Turkish ports handled 227 million tons of cargo.
Cargo transportation by vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 16.8 million tons during the reporting period, while under the flags of other countries amounted to 210.2 million tons.
Moreover, Turkish ports handled 41 million tons of transit cargo from January through July 2023.
