BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 8. The Baku Stock Exchange (BSE) and the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) of Azerbaijan will hold an investment forum in late September this year, the Acting Chairman of the BSE Board of Directors, Eldar Abdullayev, told Trend.
"Together with the SMBDA, we organize investment forums outside Baku, in the regions of Azerbaijan. We invite our investment companies, members of the Baku Stock Exchange, and the agency invites potential issuers," Abdullayev said.
"We provide entrepreneurs with market information, including data on the stock market and capital market, explaining how to use them and what opportunities are available. The Central Bank is also participating in the event, and they will talk about government support and the necessary steps. Then, panel discussions begin where investment companies engage with potential issuers to offer their services," he explained.
According to him, the BSE has a program designed for potential issuers who want to list their securities on the market.
"The BSE starts consultations with them, then organizes roundtable discussions involving its members. Next, a meeting with the issuer is offered. The issuer introduces himself, explains why he needs these funds, the duration for which he will use them, and whether he wishes to issue additional offerings in the form of stocks or, for example, short-term bonds, and so on. Then, the issuer comes to our exchange, which is our top priority. Of course, the exchange needs a lot of issuers," he added.
The turnover of securities on the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE) from January through June 2023 exceeded 7.79 billion manat ($4.58 billion), which is 1.96 percent less year-on-year.
The share of government securities in the total turnover amounted to 40.85 percent, or 3.18 billion manat ($1.87 billion).
The volume of trading in the secondary market of government securities increased by 119.76 percent to 654.08 million manat ($384.75 million), while the volume of corporate securities increased by 29.79 percent to 680.4 million manat ($400.2 million). Moreover, the primary government securities market recorded a decrease of 39.05 percent to $2.5 billion compared to the previous year.
