BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 30. The amount of funds allocated for defense and national security in Azerbaijan for the period from 2024 through 2027 has been announced, Trend reports.
Azerbaijan's Finance Ministry stated that within the framework of the medium-term budget for the aforementioned period, Azerbaijan plans to allocate 6.4 billion manat ($3.7 billion) for national security in 2024, 6.98 billion manat ($4.1 billion) in 2025, 6.49 billion manat ($3.8 billion) in 2026, and 6.68 billion manat ($3.9 billion) in 2027.
According to the ministry, the new circumstances necessitate additional strengthening of the country's defense capabilities, continued attention, and the implementation of reforms in the fields of defense and national security.
In this context, the ministry stressed the importance of ensuring the inviolability and constant protection of Azerbaijan's borders, increasing the readiness and professionalism of the armed forces, modernizing the army's material and technical equipment, providing the armed forces with the necessary financial support, and implementing comprehensive measures and projects to improve the social welfare and service conditions of servicemen.
Additionally, the ministry provided information on plans to expand military infrastructure, develop new types of troops, and create and equip military units within the scope of army equipment.
According to the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 2469 dated February 2, 2021, the following five national priorities of the policy of socio-economic development of the country until 2030 are defined: a sustainable, growing competitive economy; a society based on dynamic, inclusive, and social justice; competitive human capital and space for modern innovations; a great return to liberated territories; a clean environment; and a country of "green growth".
