BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 14. Azerbaijan's retail trade turnover grew by 3.4 percent in January 2024 compared year-on-year and reached 4.5 billion manat ($2.6 billion), Trend reports.
The data of the State Statistics Committee showed that in the reporting period of 2024, the population spent 49.9 percent of funds on food products, five percent on beverages and tobacco products, 14.3 percent on textiles, clothing and footwear, five percent on motor fuel, 4.6 percent on electrical goods and furniture, 2.4 percent on pharmaceutical goods and medicines, 1.3 percent on computers, and 17.5 percent on other non-food products.
During the reporting period, the value of goods sold by economic entities of the non-state sector increased by 3.5 percent compared to the indicator of 2023 and amounted to 99.8 percent of the total retail trade turnover.
Average monthly per capita retail trade turnover in Azerbaijan amounted to 441.3 manat or $260, including turnover of food, beverages, and tobacco products - 242.3 manat or $143, non-food products - 199 manat or $117.
In 2023, the turnover of retail trade in Azerbaijan increased by 3.7 percent compared to the same period of 2022 and reached 58.997 billion manat or $34.7 billion. The turnover of food, beverages, and tobacco products increased by 2.5 percent (to 33 billion manat or $19.4 billion), non-food goods - by 5.2 percent (to 26 billion manat or $15.3 billion)
