ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 15. Turkmenistan is set to enhance its drilling operations at the Galkynysh gas field, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Batyr Amanov said during a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, Trend reports via the official media source.

Amanov detailed the whole shebang of measures being taken to grease the wheels for drilling activities at the Galkynysh field, which is being run by the Turkmengaz state concern. He pointed out that the field is slowly coming to fruition, with plans to dig more wells in the initial phase of development.

He also pointed out that drilling operations are a whole different ball game, and a proposal for getting the necessary equipment is currently on President Serdar Berdimuhamedov's desk, waiting for the green light.

Following Amanov's report, President Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need for modern equipment to keep pace with the accelerated development of oil and gas fields and the drilling of new wells. He approved the proposal to equip the gas field with advanced drilling tools and instructed the deputy minister to oversee the implementation of these measures.

The Galkynysh gas field, located in Mary Province, Turkmenistan, is the world's second-largest gas field. Managed by the state-owned Turkmengaz, it has been producing gas since 2013 and holds reserves exceeding 14 trillion cubic meters. The field currently processes 30 billion cubic meters of gas annually, with plans to increase this to 40 billion cubic meters. Turkmengaz is also expanding its retail network and optimizing export capacities to enhance efficiency.
