Modern hydroponic greenhouses for growing tomatoes is to be built in Uzbekistan’s Bukhara region, Trend reports referring to nuz.uz news website.

According to the project, Bukhara Varnet Company LCC plans to build greenhouses on 112.8 hectares of land in Bukhara-Agro Free Economic Zone from 2020 through 2021.

Currently, construction work is underway on 30 hectares of land. Three hectares of land is already taken by a newly built greenhouse, where tomatoes are being grown, the message said.

The soil in the area is saline and there is a low yield, so the company plans to build hydrophonic greenhouses, which help to save water and ensure high yield.

According to specialists, due to hydroponic technologies, the company can harvest 3 kilograms of tomatoes from one bush. Maturation is accelerated by 25-30 days.

It is planned to attract foreign investments amounting to $80.2 million to implement the project, which will create 850 jobs.
