Quality of Toys to be Verified in CIS Market

Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 February / Trend corr S. Babayeva / State standardization bodies, included in the CIS Inter-state Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification, agreed to hold raids in February to verify the quality of toys available in the markets of CIS countries, the Director General of the Azerbaijan State Agency for Standardization, Metrology and Patents Ramiz Hasanov said at a Caspian Integration Business Club (CIBC) meeting on 15 February.

"We will check the quality of the toys and verify whether they meet to standards. We will exchange experience in this field with other countries," he said.

The decision to hold the raids was made at the meeting of the heads of the national bodies for standardization, metrology and certification (32nd meeting) in October, which included Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine.

Toys made in China posing a threat to health were previously removed from sale in Baku.

The state bodies on protection of consumer rights have recently received complaints on the quality of toys.
