Azerbaijan, Baku, 25 February / Trend corr. U.Ismailova / MP Khadi Rajabli, head of Parliamentary Commission on Social Issues, has reported that employers will transfer 3 or 4% of the sum of salary of each employee to the Compulsory Medical Agency in order to provide the worker with compulsory medical insurance.
In December 2007, the Agency on Compulsory Medical Insurance was established at the Cabinet of Ministers. For this purposes the State Budget allocated AZN 4mln and the Siyazan region was chosen as the pilot region.
Rajabli stated that in spite of Sayazan being chosen as the pilot region, the project is expected to be implemented in Shaki and Ismayilli regions.
The introduction of compulsory medical insurance is a new system in which to finance the health sector. Compulsory medical insurance will solve may problems within the health sector. Exclusive medical insurance cards will be issued once the new service has been introduced.
"I believe that compulsory medical insurance will operate in the country from 2009," Rajabli said.
