We will propose a draft of the State Border Code within a Program of Supporting Integrated Border Management Systems in the South Caucasus (SCIBM), SCIBM project head Mazahir Efendiyev said on Monday at a workshop on trainers preparation methodology within this program.
"Work has already started within the program. We will propose a draft of the State Border Code, which will reflect the concept of border management system, as well as elimination of shortages in the current legislation," Efendiyev said.
A regular training on instructor preparation within the SCIBM project was launched on Monday.
"Today our main task is staff training, which will be one of the priorities of the three-day training," he said.
The program is scheduled for 2009-2012. Its budget amounts to 6 million euro.
The draft of State Border Code is aimed at facilitating the movement of people and goods in the South Caucasus states and ensuring the border security by reinforcing cooperation between the relevant services, as well as bilateral and regional cooperation in the sphere of border control among the countries of South Caucasus and with other countries, EU member states and other international subjects.
The project is implemented within the UNDP in cooperation with the Latvian, Polish, Lithuanian, Estonian, Czech border services, the International Centre for Migration Policy Development and the French Government.
