Georgia will launch several new small hydro power plants until the end of 2017, according to an updated document on the ongoing renewable investment projects published by Georgian Energy Ministry on May 24.
In September it is planned to launch Rachkha hydro power plant in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region. The installed capacity of the HPP is 10.25 MW, annual generation is expected at 31.5 GWh.
In October the country will commission Kirnati HPP (estimated installed capacity – 51.25 MW, estimated annual generation - 226.39 GWh), Oqropilauri HPP (1.8 MW and 9.4 GWh) and Gorinauri HPP (1.8 MW and 9.3 GWh) in Adjara region, and Shilda HPP 1 (1.2 MW and 8.7 GWh) in Kakheti region.
In November Georgia is expected to launch Shurdidi HPP in Adjara region with an installed capacity of 1.33 MW and annual generation of 6.87 GWh; and Jonouli HPP 1 in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region with an installed capacity of 1.1 MW and annual generation of 5.1 GWh.
