Uzbekistan Airways, the flag carries of Uzbekistan, was granted a right to sell air tickets for international flights below the prime cost.
This is stipulated in a resolution “On measures for development of inbound tourism” signed by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Uzbekistan Airways was given the right to sell air tickets for international flights below prime cost in order to ensure the competitiveness of flights.
Mirziyoyev instructed the Finance Ministry in a two-month period together with Uzbekistan Airways to introduce a mechanism to reduce the taxable base of the airline for the amount of sale of air tickets at reduced prices.
The president recommended the airline in consultation with the State Committee for Tourism Development to approve the forecast for attracting foreign tourists and introduce a bonus system for managers and employees of the airline’s representative offices abroad for increasing the tourist flow from the host country, and in case of failure to fulfill the tasks assigned – they will be punished.
The document reads that special buses (shuttle-bus) will be introduced in Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, which will connect international airports with railway stations and bus stations, as well as large hotels. The schedule of buses will be linked with the flight schedule.
Furthermore, passengers of Uzbekistan Airways will be able to use paid communications services on board airplanes.
Under the document, the airline will introduce such services as phone calls, sending SMS-messages and the Internet.
The president ordered to approve a plan of measures to provide additional paid services on the aircrafts of the airline by March 31.
Uzbekistan Airways is wholly owned by the state and has 11 airports located on the territory of Uzbekistan, six of which are international. The company has representative offices in 25 countries.
During the first half of 2017, the Uzbek company transported 1.227 million passengers, which provided an increase of 4.3 percent as compared to the same period of 2016.
The company’s aircraft implemented 11,180 flights in the period that is by 489 flights more than in the first half of 2016.
