Kazakh products to go in south-eastern direction through Uzbekistan

Foreign Trade Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khojayev met with Kazakh Ambassador to Uzbekistan Yerik Utembayev, the press service of the Foreign Trade Ministry of Uzbekistan said on April 25.

The Kazakh ambassador and the foreign trade minister discussed the preparation for the upcoming Uzbek-Kazakh forum, which is scheduled for the second half of 2018 and will take place in Kazakhstan. In order to ensure effective preparation for the forum, Khojayev and Utembayev agreed to hold regular meetings and consultations.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged proposals on prospective directions of development of bilateral cooperation, including the regional level.

The parties agreed to involve Kazakh logistics companies in the use of hubs of Uzbekistan, which will help Kazakhstan trade products entering the prospective markets of the countries in the South and East directions, as well as increasing the volume of transit traffic through the territory of Uzbekistan.

The Foreign Trade Minister proposed to organize a visit of Kazakh businessmen to the “Termez Cargo Center” logistics terminal soon to familiarize with its capabilities and further load it with Kazakh goods.

The Kazakh side invited the Uzbek counterparts to consider the possibility of establishing joint textile enterprises. As the ambassador of Kazakhstan noted, the economies of the two countries are complementary, and cooperation in various branches and spheres only spur the development of neighboring republics.

The parties discussed the terms of crediting the purchase of buses from Uzbekistan. As the representatives of the embassy noted, passenger transport of Uzbek production is in great demand in the market of Kazakhstan, including the municipal authorities of the regions.
