In 2018, market share of the German company KNAUF in Uzbekistan was 70 percent for gypsum plasterboard (drywall) and 40 percent for dry gypsum plaster, the German company told Trend on July 10.
The representative of the company said that KNAUF sold 22.78 million square meters of drywall and 72.6 tons of gypsum plaster in Uzbekistan in 2017.
KNAUF’s representative has also reminded that in May 2018, KNAUF completed the work on increasing capacity of the gypsum plasterboard production line by 30 percent. Investments in the expansion of the production line amounted to $22 million.
“We rely on the design solutions prepared by KNAUF Engineering, the company's project institute in Germany. Equipment used in the reconstruction is also designed in the same place and produced at European machinery plants,” a source in the company said.
The representative of KNAUF also reminded that the company decided to build another production site in Uzbekistan, which will produce KNAUF gypsum plasterboards and plaster. The design work on the site is currently underway. Over $20 million will be invested in the project in total.
KNAUF Group is an international company, which has been carrying out investment activities in the post-Soviet area since 1993. Today, KNAUF Group is one of the world's largest manufacturers of finishing construction materials.
Activities of KNAUF in Uzbekistan began in 1999 with establishment of a representative office. The company made a significant contribution to formation of the market for dry construction and modified building mixtures, promoted introduction of advanced construction technologies and formation of regulatory frameworks.
Ten years later, in 2009, KNAUF launched its own production of popular dry gypsum construction mixtures in Uzbekistan. In September 2011, an opening ceremony of a new plant for production of KNAUF gypsum plasterboards at the KNAUF GIPS BUKHARA enterprise took place.
