Azerbaijan, Baku, 7 February /corr. Trend A.Badalova / German RWE Company, which became the sixth participant of the consortium on construction of Nabucco pipeline, assess the cost of the project at $6.8bln, said Liz Christie, the Manager on Investment Relations at RWE.
"The general cost [construction] of the pipeline [Nabucco] is expected to total €5-6bln ($6.17bln - $7.4bln)," Christie said.
This week RWE joined Nabucco project as the 6th participant. The other participants are OMV, Hungarian Mol and three State companies - Bulgatian Bulgargaz, Romanian Transgaz and Turkish Botas. Each participant has a share of 16.67%.
The German Company has more that 10mln gas customers in South-East, Central and North-West Europe. The Company's activity in the consortium will be directed towards transforming into a reliable customer of the gas, which will be transported via Nabucco project.
Nabucco, with 31bln cu.m.of gas per year and length of 3.300km, was launched to deliver gas from the Caspian Sea to Vienna's Baumgarten distribution station via Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary. This will enable the launch of the first gas deliveries by 2012, at 8bln cu.m of gas per year. The rest of the Nabucco pipeline will be built simultaneously.
