About € 12 million was spent to install a control panel in the Georgian electrical system under the SCADA project. Equipped with the latest technology the control panel is the only and unique in the Caucasus, the manager of the rehabilitation of the Georgian state electric system, Sulkhan Zumburidze said at presentation on Aug.25.
The new control panel will enable to reduce significantly the probability of accidents in the power system, increase the accuracy of capacity management and assistance to dispatchers in the elimination of accidents and decision-making.
The SCADA project was sanctioned in late 2006 and will complete in December, 2009. Total cost of the project is about €12, 096, 511 million. The project is financed by the World Bank with co-financing from the Georgian state electrical system. Siemens is a contractor of the project.
Georgia is the only country in the Caucasus, which possesses new technology with such advanced equipment, the manager of the rehabilitation of the Georgian state electric system, Sulkhan Zumburidze, said. This project is one more step in the development of the Georgian energy sector, Zumburidze added.
