According to forecasts, this year the volume of oil products sold by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) on the Georgian market, will be 435,000 tons compared to over 406,000 tons in 2009, a source in SOCAR Energy Georgia, which is SOCAR's subsidiary in Georgia, said.
"As a result of the year the figures are expected at the level of 435,000 tons, which is more than last year," the source said. Previously it was forecasted that this year the company will sell 412,000 tons of oil products on the Georgian market.
SOCAR sells oil products such as gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, bitumen, in small amounts fuel oil and lubricating oil in Georgia.
Azerbaijan produces oil products at the two Baku refineries with a total capacity of 20 million tons of oil per year. Both refineries belong to SOCAR, which annually processes approximately 7 million tons of oil from the Azerbaijani offshore and onshore fields.
Last year, the Baku refineries processed 6.03 million tons compared to 7.35 million tons in 2008.
This year, SOCAR plans to process 6.15 million tons of oil.
