Georgia, Tbilisi, May 11 / Trend N.Kirtzkhalia /
USAID Deputy Administrator Donald Steinberg will visit Poti (Western Georgia) on May 12 to become familiarized with the construction of the East-West gas pipeline funded by the U.S. government.
Steinberg will participate in a symbolic ceremony to mark the completion of the pipeline's construction and a gas supply to the Poti free industrial zone, the U.S. Embassy told Trend.
The project cost of $115 million is funded by USAID under U.S. assistance, provided to Georgia after the Georgian-Ossetian conflict of 2008.
The gas pipeline will link the Senaki district with the Poti free industrial zone. As a result, the gas project will be supplied to Poti and Senaki, Hobie and Samegrelo.
