Kazakh producers worry about the production safety on the Atyrau refinery. At present, the plant modernization project is being implemented with a Chinese corporation, "Belkamit" joint venture head Pavel Beklemishev told media on Thursday.
"We worry about the future of the project and safety in the enterprise," Beklemishev said on the sidelines of the meeting.
"I think that our Kazakh technicians must be involved to assess this issue," he said.
KMG and Sinopec Group modernize the Atyrau refinery. In September 2009, Sinopec Engineering (a subsidiary of Sinopec Group) won a tender to build a complex on aromatic hydrocarbons production on the Atyrau refinery.
Sinopec Group is the Chinese National Petrochemical Corporation.
KazMunaiGas Company is the Kazakh national operator for exploration, production and transportation of hydrocarbons.
