Work on exploration of new oil and gas fields is restored in Libya, the country's National oil company said, on Monday.
"Particularly, the work began at the oil concessions, developed by Agoco and AGESCO companies. Works are carried out at the Ghadames area, which has huge reserves of hydrocarbons," the statement said.
The first data on the exploration will be received by the end of March 2012.
National Oil Company of Libya said oil production in the country amounted to 1.3 million barrels per day to the December 2011.
The country plans to increase oil production to 1.7 million barrels per day to the spring of 2012, which exceeds the amount of pre-revolutionary, the company told Trend previouslyю
Libya ranks eighth in terms of crude oil producer among the 12 OPEC countries and ranks third in Africa, after Nigeria and Angola. The main importer of Libyan oil is Italy, followed by Germany, France and Spain.
Libya's proven oil reserves are 45 billion barrels. Libya extracted 1.5 million barrels of oil per day before the Revolution.
