The production volume of oil in Azerbaijan is forecasted on the level of 47 million tons this year, the head of SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev told journalists on Tuesday.
According to Abdullayev, decrease in total production volumes in republic in comparison with 2010, when the indicator reached almost 51 million tons, is due to production volume reduction in Azeri Chirag Guneshli block of oil and gas fields.
"In its turn, production decrease in Azeri Chirag Guneshli is due to risk prevention activities, which were implemented in the field in 2011, affecting drilling program implementation in the field," he added.
Abdullayev also noted that SOCAR together with partners is currently working on the program of field's stable development in 2013 and following years within specially established technical committee
