JSC "Azerenergy" has completed the construction of a new small hydro "Hussar-1" (in the north of Azerbaijan), JSC informed Trend.
Construction of small hydro power plants is one of the areas of development of alternative energy sources, reducing dependence on fuel in power generation, as well as engaging the hydropower potential of the country.
"The construction of the station have been completed and it is almost ready to be put into operation," - JSC said.
Plant capacity is 1.1 megawatts.
According to preliminary calculations, theoretically hydropower potential of all rivers in Azerbaijan is 40 billion kilowatt-hours. Despite this, according to technical calculations, the use of 16 billion kilowatt-hours is possible
The capacity of the power stations owned by "Azerenergy" company exceeds 6,000 megawatts. The company has more than 200 substations with a capacity of 500, 330, 220 and 110 kV, as well as six hydroelectric power stations and 13 thermoelectric power stations.
