Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 9 / Trend, E. Ismayilov /

Several power facilities have been reconstructed in Azerbaijan under the " Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey Energy Bridge" project", Azerenergy company (generation and distribution of electricity in Azerbaijan) said on Wednesday.

According to the report, a 500 kV overhead line between Muhranis and Veli with a length of 150 kilometers was fully reconstructed. The third 400-megawatt autotransformer was installed at 500-kilovolt Absheron substation. A 300-kilovolt open distribution unit of the substation was also reconstructed.

The purpose of the project is to ensure energy supplies from Azerbaijan to Europe.
At present, the operations are being carried out within the 'Energy Bridge' project, which envisages electricity exports from Azerbaijan to Turkey by connecting the power systems of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey.

It is necessary to reconstruct the transmission lines to the border between Azerbaijan and Georgia to ensure exports. Georgia must also complete construction work on its territory.
Within the first stage, the capacity of power grids will provide Turkey with 350 megawatts of electricity, with 700 megawatts within the second stage.
