BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, May 6. The value of the production in the extraction sector of Kyrgyzstan amounted to 13.860 billion soms ($156.288 million) from January through March 2024, which is a 23.9 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023, Trend reports.
The State Statistical Agency of Kyrgyzstan reports a 5.2 percent drop in production. Compared to January-March 2023, metallic ore production fell 9.1 percent and other mineral production fell 1.8 percent. Meanwhile, crude oil and natural gas volumes rose 4.2 percent.
During the firs quarter of 2024, extraction sector accounted for 12.1 percent of the total industrial output volume.
Industrial production in Kyrgyzstan reached 114.5 billion soms ($1.284 billion) from January through March 2024, which is a 4.5 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
The State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan credits this growth to increasing production in numerous areas. Manufacturing of wooden and paper products, printing operations (up 37.1 percent), refined petroleum products (20.3 percent), food products (including drinks), and tobacco products (17.6 percent) has increased.
Furthermore, there has been an increase in textile manufacturing, apparel and footwear production, leather and leather product manufacturing (12.8 percent), pharmaceutical production (11.6 percent), and rubber, plastic goods, and building materials (4.2 percent).
