Credit financial institution liabilities rise in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, May 7. The total liabilities of credit financial institutions in Tajikistan amounted to 30.790 billion somoni ($2.824 billion) as of March 31, 2024, Trend reports.

According to the National Bank of Tajikistan, this figure increased by 5.993 billion somoni ($549.784 million), or 24.2 percent, compared to the same period in 2023, primarily due to an increase in deposit volumes.

Meanwhile, as of the reporting date, the liquidity ratio of credit financial institutions stood at 86.3 percent, which exceeded the established requirement of 30 percent by 56.3 percentage points.

To note, the credit portfolio of financial institutions in Tajikistan reached 18.290 billion somoni ($1.677 billion) as of March 31, 2024, increasing by 3.535 billion somoni ($324.293 million), or 24 percent, compared to the same period in 2023.

As of March 31, 2024, there were 63 credit financial institutions operating in Tajikistan, including 14 traditional banks, 1 Islamic bank, 1 non-bank credit institution, 19 microcredit deposit organizations, 3 microcredit organizations, and 25 microcredit funds.
