Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Sept. 20

By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:

Turkmenistan plans to build 14 gas turbine power plants with total installed capacity of 3,854 megawatts until 2020, reads a message from the Turkmen Oil and Gas Complex.

Fourteen 9E gas turbine units, six 6B gas turbine units and nine LM6000 gas turbine units have already been installed in Turkmenistan in the 17 years of cooperation with the American company General Electric.

Currently, the General Electric Power and Turkey’s Calik Holding are building Turkmenistan’s first gas turbine power plant with capacity of 1,574 megawatts. The plant is to be commissioned in December 2018.

The plant is designed to produce 12.6 billion kilowatt hours of electricity per year. Four gas turbines, four waste heat boilers for production of steam, two steam turbines and other equipment will be installed there.

Gas turbine power plants have higher efficiency in comparison with the simple cycle power plants. Production of 1 kilowatt of electricity by a gas turbine power plant requires significantly less natural gas and carbon dioxide emission is less by twice or thrice.
