Presently, Uzbekistan fully meets the demand of the country’s motor vehicles for gasoline, Furkat Abdullayev, head of the Internal Sales Department of the Uznefteprodukt JSC, told Trend.
He said the demand for motor gasoline is about 80,000 tons a month, adding there are 2,634 filling stations operating in Uzbekistan, including 100 filling stations of the Uznefteprodukt JSC, as well as four filling stations of the Jizzakh Petroleum JV LLC, which specializes in sales of high-quality motor fuel.
Gasoline deficit in Uzbekistan is periodically observed by the end of each year. For its elimination, in November last year, Uzbek Finance Ministry allocated an interest-free loan worth 2 trillion soums to the Uznefteprodukt JSC and refineries for the import of crude and finished petroleum products.
Imported fuel is exempt from customs payments and the refineries are exempt from the payment of profit tax until 2020. The saved funds will be directed for modernization, technical and technological re-equipment of production facilities.
Presently, three oil refineries - Bukhara, Fergana and Altyaryk - with an aggregate capacity of 11.12 million tons operate in Uzbekistan.
