The polypropylene homopolymer, manufactured by the resident of Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park, SOCAR Polymer LLC, is ranking first among the importing products in Russia, Trend reports citing the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy.
According to the ministry, SOCAR Polymer’s share in Russia‘s polypropylene import reached 61 percent in April 2020. Since early 2020, this indicator has amounted to 42 percent.
SOCAR Polymer is manufacturing polypropylene and polyethylene of high density at the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park. Over 75 percent of these products are intended for export.
SOCAR Polymer LLC was established in 2013. The foundation of the SOCAR Polymer plants was laid with the participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on October 25, 2015. The polypropylene plant opened on July 18, 2018, while the plant for the production of high-density polyethylene was commissioned on February 18, 2019.
