Iran's boosts oil and oil products exports

Iran has made progress in transportation of oil products by sea, Chairman of Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran’s (PMO) branch in Hormozgan Province and Head of Shahid Rajaee Special Economic Zone Allahmorad Afifipour said, Trend reports citing PMO.

According to Afifipour, there was an increase of 2.79 percent in the transportation and export of oil and oil products via sea.

Afifipour added that 331 ships were loaded and unloaded at the Shahid Rajaee port from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to July 5.

The chairman emphasized that 52 ships unloaded 4 million tons of oil products, including crude oil, gas condensate and MTBE (Methyl tert-butyl ether) and 279 ships loaded with 4.1 million tons of oil products and hydrocarbons.

Afifipour said that these products are loaded for transportation in different directions around the world.

The chairman noted that a number of steps are being taken to increase oil activities in the Shahid Rajaee port, including the construction of three new platforms.

"With the commissioning of these platforms in the near future, the export potential of oil products in the Shahid Rajee port will increase by more than 30 percent," he said.

There are 12 platforms operating in the Shahid Rajaee port. In addition, 2.8 million tons of products were loaded and 1.88 million tons of products were unloaded at the port during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 20-June 20, 2020). During this period, 2.14 million tons of products were exported and 467,000 tons of products were imported through this port.
