By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The second gas unit of the Qeshm Thermal Power Plant on the Qeshm Island in Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) has been connected to Iran’s electricity network, Amir Dudabinejad, executor of private thermal power plants’ projects at Iran’s Thermal Power Plants Holding Company said, Trend reports citing Ministry of Energy of Iran.

Dudabinejad emphasized that the 500-megawatt thermal power plant has two gas units each capacity of 170-megawatt and one 160-megawatt steam unit.

The official added that the efficiency of the gas section of the thermal power plant amounts to 33 percent.

“Also, given the need for drinking water on the Qeshm Island, the 2nd unit of the thermal power plant will produce 8,000 cubic meters of drinking water per day,” he said.

Dudabinejad noted that two gas units of the Qeshm TPP consume about 45,000 cubic meters of gas per hour.

On September 10, the second unit of the Qeshm Thermal Power Plant has been launched with an investment of 190 million euros.
