Azerbaijan’s gas exports to Turkey up by over 23%

Azerbaijan’s gas exports to Turkey rose by 23.4 percent in November 2020, as compared to the same period in 2019, Trend reports with reference to Turkey’s Energy Markets Regulatory Authority (EPDK).

Russia took the lead in terms of the volume of natural gas exports to Turkey in November 2020 with 2.435 billion cubic meters, followed by Azerbaijan with 1.64 billion cubic meters and Iran with 790 million cubic meters. Russia’s exports to Turkey rose by 123 percent, while Iran saw a 8 percent decrease year-on-year.

Turkey’s total gas imports rose by 32.1 percent in November 2020, as compared to November 2019 and stood at 5.153 billion cubic meters. Around 4.290 billion cubic meters of natural gas imports accounted for pipelines and 862.440 million was imported as liquefied natural gas (LNG). The volume of natural gas imports via pipelines rose by 52.5 percent, while LNG imports fell by 20.7 percent.

During the reporting period, Turkey’s natural gas consumption also increased by 33 percent and stood at 4.610 billion cubic meters.

Natural gas consumption by power plants rose by 59 percent and amounted to 1.461 billion cubic meters, while consumption in housing increased by 49 percent standing at 1.145 billion cubic meters.
