TAP offers three capacity products

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb.17

By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

Trans Adriatic Pipeline offers the following capacity products: forward firm capacity, forward interruptible capacity and commercial reverse capacity, Trend reports citing TAP AG consortium.

Forward firm capacity

Forward firm long-term capacity will only be made available through TAP’s market tests.

Provided there is sufficient available capacity, registered parties can purchase the following forward firm short-term capacity products, defined in accordance with section 2 of the TAP network code:

  • forward firm yearly capacity
  • forward firm quarterly capacity
  • forward firm monthly capacity
  • forward firm daily capacity

Forward firm capacity is offered independently at each interconnection point. As such, registered parties must book forward firm capacity separately at the required entry and/or exit point(s).

Forward interruptible capacity

TAP offers forward day-ahead interruptible capacity at an interconnection point only when there is no available capacity for forward firm capacity at that particular interconnection point.

Forward interruptible capacity is offered independently at each interconnection point. As such, registered parties must book forward interruptible capacity separately at the required entry and/or exit point(s).

Commercial reverse capacity

TAP offers commercial reverse capacity that results in an eastward (virtual) flow, according to each commercial reverse route as referred in table B of the Appendix 2 of the TAP Network Code.

Registered parties can purchase the following commercial reverse capacity products:

  • commercial reverse yearly capacity
  • commercial reverse quarterly capacity
  • commercial reverse monthly capacity
  • commercial reverse daily capacity.

Commercial reverse capacity must be booked through a single auction as a combination of equal amounts of reserved capacity at one entry point and one exit point.

Physical Reverse Flow

TAP does not offer physical reverse flow as a commercial product. This will only be provided for emergency operations in accordance with TAP’s regulatory framework.

Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) AG confirmed on Dec. 31 the commencement of gas flows from Azerbaijan. The first gas has reached Greece and Bulgaria, via the Nea Mesimvria interconnection point with DESFA, as well as Italy, via the Melendugno interconnection point with SNAM Rete Gas (SRG).

TAP transports natural gas from the giant Shah Deniz field in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea to Europe. The 878 km long pipeline connects with the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) at the Turkish-Greek border in Kipoi, crosses Greece and Albania and the Adriatic Sea, before coming ashore in Southern Italy.
