SOCAR AQS updates on drilling at Umid field

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 5

By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

SOCAR AQS is engaged in sidetracking pocket at the well #18, which is being drilled from the deep-water stationary platform #1 at Umid field, the company told Trend.

“The well #18, with design depth of 6,270 meters, has been drilled to a depth of 6,120 meters. Geological and geophysical surveys revealed that the project horizon was fully opened at 6120 meters and drilling was completed,” said the company.

Umid field was discovered by SOCAR in 2010. Risk Service Contract for this block was signed in early 2017.

Umid field is located in 75 kilometers from Baku and in 40 kilometers from the shore.

The reserves of Umid field are estimated at 200 million cubic meters. It is planned to build and install a platform at Umid field (Umid 2) and conduct exploratory drilling in the nearest Babek structure. Dashgil 2 terminal with capacity of 24 million cubic meters per day is under construction for initial gas and condensate processing. The product will be transported via the underwater pipeline of the terminal. Construction of the terminal has been going on since September 2019.

Umid field has already produced around 4 billion cubic meters of gas.
