Iran starts extraction from Sivand oil field

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 13

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran has started extraction from the first well (SICE6) on the Nasr 5 platform of the Sivand oil field of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC), the Executive Director of Drilling Company International (DCI) Hamid Reza Seghafi said, Trend reports citing PetroIran Development Company’s official portal.

The director said that the well was drilled with the WT-2 drilling rig and began to produce 2,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

“Due to the geological complexity of the Nasr 5 platform of the Sivand field, it is very difficult to carry out excavations in this platform. Despite all these, the well was drilled and handed over within the set time,” he added.

As reported, the Sivand oil field of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company is located 43 km west of Siri Island.

A contract has been signed between the Iranian Offshore Oil Company and the Iranian PetroIran Company on the plan to maintain and increase the extraction from the Sivand and Esfand oil fields. It is expected that 12 wells will be drilled, repaired, and upgraded in the Sivand and Esfand fields under the contract.

The IOOC extracts daily about 11,000 barrels of oil from the Sivand oil field and 60,000 barrels from the Esfand oil field.
