Iran sees increase in revenues from gas exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 9

Iran's revenues from gas exports have increased by 4 times since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 9, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji said, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.

According to Owji, Iran’s revenues from gas exports for the reporting period amounted to more than $4.6 billion, while, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at $1.03 billion.

The minister added that Iran's gas exports to neighboring countries have also increased.

“In general, Iran’s exports of crude oil, gas condensate, gas, oil and petrochemical products increased by 2.5 times within the mentioned, compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he said.

Owji also pointed out that more than $12 billion worth of foreign currency earnings from Iran’s petrochemical exports were sold to the country’s banks under the NIMA exchange rate.

“Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure amounted to $6.4 billion," he said.

The minister noted that Iran’s foreign currency earnings from the export of crude oil, gas condensate, gas and oil products were delivered to the country in various ways, and thus most of the country's foreign exchange needs have been met.
