Kyrgyzstan's extraction sector output decreases

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, May 21. The value of production in the extraction sector of Kyrgyzstan amounted to 18.346 billion soms ($208.122 million) from January through April 2024, Trend reports.

According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the physical volume index compared to January–April 2023 was 95.1 percent. In April, production reached 4.432 billion soms ($50.277 million), with the physical volume index compared to the same period last year at 96.2 percent.

During January-April 2024, the production volumes of metallic ores decreased by 7.1 percent compared to the same period in 2023, while the extraction of coal decreased by 5.2 percent.

However, the production volumes of other minerals increased by 10.9 percent, and the extraction of crude oil and natural gas increased by 1.6 percent.

Kyrgyzstan's industrial production for January through April 2024 reached 154.7 billion soms ($1.75 billion), which is a 2.2 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023. The production of refined petroleum products (an increase of 31 percent), wood and paper products, and printing activities (an increase of 28.7 percent) were the main drivers of the growth.
