Iran plans to launch new wind power plant with a capacity to generate about 12 megawatt-hours of electricity in the Khaf County of Razavi Khorasan Province (north-eastern Iran) in this summer, the Spokesman for Iranian Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization Jafar Mohammadnejad Sigaroudi told IRNA, Trend reports.

The spokesman noted that so far, 7-megawatt wind turbines have been installed at the power plant, which is being built with an investment of private sector.

“Khaf Country has a great potential in the field of wind energy. As a result of the research, it became clear that wind power plants that can generate more than 1,500 megawatt-hours of electricity can be built in this country,” he added.

According to Mohammadnejad Sigaroudi, over the next 4 years, Iran will build renewable power plants with a generation capacity of 10,000 megawatt-hours. Its 7,000 megawatt-hours will come from solar panels, 3,000 megawatt-hours - from wind power plants and the rest - from other renewable power plants.
