Iran shares data on electricity generation at Shahid Mofateh TPP

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 22. Iran’s Shahid Mofateh Thermal Power Plant in Hamadan Province (western Iran) generated over 6.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through February 19, 2023), Deputy Director of Shahid Mofateh Power Generation Management Company Pejman Akhtari said, Trend reports citing Iranian Energy Ministry.

“Meanwhile, in the 11th month of the current Iranian year (January 21 through February 19, 2022) alone, the power plant generated more than 670 million kilowatt-hours of electricity,” Akhtari noted.

The official added that currently, the mentioned station is operating at maximum capacity.

The Shahid Mofateh TPP was put into operation in 1993 on an area of 270 hectares. The electricity generation of capacity of the power plant is 1,000 megawatt-hours. The TPP has 4 steam units, with a capacity to generate 250 megawatt-hours of electricity each.

At present, there are 134 thermal power plants operating in Iran. So far, 612 power units have been installed in the mentioned power plants. The power generation capacity of Iran’s TPPs is currently 73,695 megawatt-hours.
