BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 30. STAR Refinery of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR in Türkiye has decreased jet fuel prodiction by 41 percent year-on-year, Trend reports.
The refinery produced 33,941 tons of jet fuel in April 2023, while this figure was as high as 57,600 tons in the same month in 2022.
When the jet fuel demand fell due to COVID-related restrictions on both national and international flights, STAR Refinery quickly converted its 1.6 million tons of jet fuel capacity to diesel. After easing of restrictions, it resumed jet fuel production tailored to the increasing demand.
STAR Refinery, with investment value of $6.3 billion came on stream in October 2018. Around $3.3 billion of the project’s cost was covered by loans.
The annual processing capacity of STAR Refinery is 10 million tons. It meets around 25 percent of Türkiye’s refined oil products. The refinery is able to process 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
