Iran’s Oil Ministry develops plan to increase petrochemical output

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 15. Iran's petrochemical production has exceeded 35 million tons in the first 6 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), CEO of National Petrochemical Company (NPC), Morteza Shah-Mirzaei said, Trend reports.

The CEO noted that the country’s petrochemical output is expected to reach approximately 78 million tons by the end of the current year (March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024).

He also said that the Iranian Ministry of Oil has a plan to boost the country’s petrochemical production.

Shah-Mirzaei said that a detailed program is being prepared to produce new types of petrochemical products that are not currently available in Iran. He said that this program will be announced soon.

As reported, Iran's annual petrochemical production capacity is currently 92 million tons. By the end of the current year (March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024), this figure is estimated to reach 95 million tons.
