BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 29. The Rey TPP, a thermal power plant in Iran’s Tehran Province, has produced 2.1 billion kilowatts of electricity in the first eleven months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through February 19, 2024), Executive Director of Rey Power Generation Management Company Hamid Badorestani said, Trend reports.

The director noted that 2.09 billion kilowatts of the electricity generated by the plant have been delivered to Iran’s electricity network.

Over the course of 11 months, maintenance was finalized on 21 power units within the thermal power station, he added.

Badorestani also pointed out that the plant would undergo regular repairs to prepare for maximum electricity production next summer.

Iran’s Rey TPP has 29 gas turbines in total and can produce up to 979.4 megawatt-hours of electricity. Currently, 21 gas turbines are working and can produce 754 megawatt-hours of electricity.

At present, the power generation capacity of Iran's all power plants, including thermal, hydroelectric, nuclear, renewable, etc., is approximately 91,000 megawatt-hours. Of this, 82 percent is accounted for by the country’s thermal power plants.

Iran now has 617 power units operating in 135 TPPs. The electricity generation capacity of the country's thermal power plants exceeds 74,200 megawatt-hours.
