SOCAR Head:   Turkey Will Receive Gas from Shah Deniz Field after Launching of Second Well

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Aliyev / The President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Rovnak Abdullayev, said on 19 March that the delivery of the gas from Shah Deniz field to Turkey may commence after the launch of the second production well on this field, Trend reports with reference to ANS TV.

According to forecasts from BP Azerbaijan, who are the technical operators of the project, the Company will put the well into exploitation at the end of March/beginning of April and thereafter, the fourth well will follow. After launching these two wells, BP Azerbaijan will return to the work on the first well, activities of which were ceased due to a leakage of gas.

At present one well is functioning on the Shah Deniz field and its daily production equals approximately 5.6 mln cu.m of gas and 1,500 tons of condensate. The project has already commenced its gas delivery to Georgia. Nearly 200,000 cu.m of gas is delivered to Georgia per day.

A total of 8.6 bln. cu.m. of gas is expected to be produced annually within Phase 1 of the development of the "Shah Daniz" project with 2.8 bln. cu.m. of gas predicted to be produced in 2007.
