International Oil Conference in Tbilisi Discusses Construction of Gas Pipeline from Turkey to Europe

Trend N.Kirskhalia / The Energy Minister of Georgia, Nika Gilauri, is satisfied with the 6th International Oil, Gas, Energy and Infrastructure Conference of Georgia "GIOGIE - 2007". According to him, the conference focused on actual energy issues, Trend Special Correspondent reports.

"The conference has already been held for 6 years and covers development issues of energy security policies such as the project "NABUCCO" and the construction of gas reservoirs," the Minister said.

According to the Head of the Oil and Gas Corporation of Georgia, Alexander Khetaguri, the conference covers the construction of the new gas Pipeline, transportation of the energy resources of Middle Asia to Europe via the territory of Georgia.

"The projects of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum already exist. The conference will also focus on the construction of the gas pipeline connecting Turkey with Europe," he said. The conference brings together approximately 200 delegates from 12 countries. They include heads of the oil and gas companies, representatives of the international organizations and heads of the appropriate ministries and departments.

The forum is attended by the representatives of BP Georgia, SOCAR, GOGC, TRAO, BOTAS, KazTransGaz, Statoil Azerbaijan, Batumi Oil Terminal, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Millennium Challenge Georgian Fund, EBRD, WB, Energy-Invest, UEDC, JSC Telasi, Georgian State Electrosystems, as well as the representatives of the National Commission for Energy Regulation of Georgia, State Agency for Regulation of Oil and Gas Resources of Georgia, etc.
