Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Aliyev / Iran has not notified Azerbaijan of the termination of the import of automobile benzene, a source at the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) stated.
Azerbaijan exports nearly 20-40,000 tons of automobile benzene to Iran per month on the basis of a contract signed between Azerbaijan and East Energy Company. The oil products are shipped by tankers belonging to Azerneftyag Oil Refinery via the Caspian.
World media sources state that Iran will put limitations on the sale of benzene. From 27 June, the owners of private vehicles will only be able to buy 100 litters of benzene per month. This measure has been taken to decrease the internal benzene consumption and import of the fuel by Iran, RBK reports with reference to Reuters.
Azerbaijan produces automobile benzene in the oil refinery named after Heydar Aliyev, (formerly 'Azerneftyanajag').
Iran is the second country of oil production volume in OPEC. By 2015 the country plans to increase the volume of oil production from 4.3 to 5.3 mln barrels per day.
