Deposits, loans up in Kazakhstan

The volume of deposits in Kazakhstan’s deposit organizations amounted to 17.49 trillion tenge in May 2019, which is two percent more than in April 2019, Trend reports with reference to National Bank of Kazakhstan.

Furthermore, the legal persons' deposits increased by 3.5 percent and amounted to 8.98 trillion tenge, whereas the physical persons' deposits increased by 0.4 percent and equaled to 8.5 trillion tenge.

The volume of tenge denominated deposits amounted to 10.6 trillion tenge, which is 5.2 percent more than in April 2019, whereas the volume of foreign currency denominated deposits decreased by 2.6 percent and equaled to 6.8 trillion tenge. The dollarization level stood at 39.1 percent in May 2019.

Legal persons' deposits denominated in tenge amounted to 5.76 trillion tenge in May which is 9.8 percent more than in April 2019, whereas legal persons' deposits denominated in foreign currency decreased by 5.9 percent and stood at 3.2 trillion tenge.

Physical persons' deposits denominated in tenge increased by 0.3 percent and amounted to 4.9 trillion tenge. Similarly, physical persons' deposits denominated in foreign currency increased by 0.6 percent and equaled to 3.6 trillion tenge.

The volume of time deposits amounted to 11.7 trillion tenge, which is 0.5 percent more than in April. Tenge denominated deposits amounted to 7.13 trillion tenge and foreign currency denominated deposits stood at 4.6 trillion tenge.

Weighted average remuneration rate on time deposits of non-bank legal persons amounted to 7.2 percent for tenge-denominated deposits and to 9.3 percent for foreign currency denominated deposits.

Furthermore, the volume of lending by banks of the country amounted to 12.76 trillion tenge in May 2019, which is 1.5 percent more than in April. The volume of legal persons' loans increased by one percent and equaled to 7.1 trillion tenge, whereas volume of physical persons' loans increased by 2.2 percent and stood at 5.66 trillion tenge.

In turn, the volume of tenge denominated loans increased by 2.2 percent in May and equaled to 10.33 trillion tenge. Thus, tenge denominated legal persons' loans increased by 2.1 percent, whereas tenge denominated physical persons' loans increased by 2.4 percent.

The volume of foreign currency denominated loans increased by 1.4 percent in May and equaled to 2.4 trillion tenge. Foreign currency denominated legal persons loans' decreased by 1.2 percent, whereas foreign currency denominated physical persons' loans decreased by 4.6 percent.

The volume of long-term deposits increased by 1.9 percent in May and equaled to 10.9 trillion tenge, while the volume of short-term deposits decreased by 0.7 percent and stood at 1.86 trillion tenge.

The lending to small entrepreneurship objects increased by 0.3 percent and amounted to 2.2 trillion tenge.

From the sectoral point of view, the largest volume of loans is observed in industry (14.9 percent of the total volume), trade (13.3 percent), construction (5.6 percent) and transport (3.9 percent).

Weighted average remuneration rate on loans denominated in tenge to non-bank legal persons stood at 11.9 percent, and to physical persons amounted to 18.1 percent.
