Iran's main goal is to reduce the Iranian economy’s oil dependence, said Gholamreza Panahi, Vice Governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI), Trend reports referring to the bank's website.

According to him, this can be achieved by obtaining export revenues and diversifying export revenues.

Panahi added that exports that do not bring in foreign currency revenues are not beneficial for the economy.

"Foreign currency earned from exports should be used in the country's economy and the country's basic needs should be met," he said.

The official went on to say that stability in the Iranian market has grown and that the country's economy is improving.

The share of oil in this year’s Iranian budget makes up about $35-40 billion.

Because there are several foreign currency exchange rates in Iran, some exporters do not want to sell a certain percentage of the foreign currency gained from export to NIMA, a system designated by the CBI. The CBI has taken a number of measures to return the exported currency to the country's economy.

The trade turnover of Iran for 3 months amounted to $21.7 billion. However, this figure stood at $22.9 billion during the same period last year.
