Azerbaijan reveals data on Baku's trade turnover for 1Q2020

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 1

The volume of trade turnover of Azerbaijan’s Baku decreased by 2.6 percent from January through April 2020 compared to the same period of 2019, amounting to 6.4 billion manat ($3.7 billion), Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee.

The volume of food, beverages and tobacco products sold in the retail network in the capital increased by 11.8 percent in the first quarter of 2020 compared to the same period of 2020, and exceeded 3.3 billion manat ($1.9 billion) in total. The volume of sales of non-food products decreased by 14 percent and amounted to more than 3.1 billion manat ($1.8 billion).

Some 31.3 percent of consumer products were sold by enterprises with the status of legal entity, 49.1 percent - at trade facilities owned by individual entrepreneurs, and 19.6 percent - at the city markets.

In 2019, the volume of trade turnover in Baku increased by 4.2 percent compared to 2018 and amounted to 22.2 billion manat ($13 billion). The volume of food, drinks and tobacco products sold in the trading network in the capital increased by 0.8 percent compared to 2018 and amounted to 10.5 billion manat ($6.1 billion). The volume of sales of non-food products increased by 7.7 percent and exceeded 11.6 billion manat ($6.8 billion).
